The creator of the popular mobile game Flappy Bird has decided to take it down because he is uncomfortable with the amount of attention he is receiving.
Nguyen Ha Dong, a Hanoi-based game developer, removed the game from Apple and Google’s online stores at 5pm today after announcing he would do so yesterday.
He tweeted: ‘I am sorry “Flappy Bird” users, 22 hours from now, I will take ”Flappy Bird” down. I cannot take this anymore.’

The game, which involves steering a bird between green pipes, has become hugely popular over the past few weeks.
Flappy Bird has reportedly been earning Dong an average of $50,000 a day from advertising.
The Android version alone has been downloaded up to 50million times.
Flappy Bird fan Ash didn’t take the news too well and tweeted: ‘Flappy Bird is getting taken down please tell me that this is not true I’m gonna cry please.’

There had been rumours Dong faced possible legal action from Nintendo because the game resembled early versions of Super Mario Bros but this has been denied by the developer and the Japanese games company.
